MACROMEDIA COLDFUSION MX NOW AVAILABLE
InvestEdge uses ColdFusion MX to deliver online portfolio management
application for Wilmington Trust

San FranciscoMay 29, 2002MacromediaInc. (Nasdaq: MACR) today announced the
immediate availability of Macromedia ColdFusion MX, the rapid server
scripting environment for creating rich Internet applications. Macromedia
ColdFusion MX, previously code-named "Neo," brings the proven ease of use
and productivity of ColdFusion to the highly scalable, standards-based Java
technology architecture. ColdFusion MX offers innovations for creating rich
Internet applications and working with XML, web services, and the Microsoft
.NET Framework. Macromedia ColdFusion MX is available for immediate purchase
from the Macromedia Online Store at www.macromedia.com/go/buycfmx/.

Macromedia ColdFusion MX is an integral member of the new Macromedia MX
product family, which also includes Macromedia Flash MX, Dreamweaver MX
(shipping today, see separate release), Fireworks MX (shipping today, see
separate release), and Macromedia FreeHand. The ColdFusion MX preview
release has been downloaded more than 185,000 times by developers.
ColdFusion MX is built on a breakthrough new architecture that delivers the
scalability, reliability, and power of the Java platform without the
complexity. Macromedia Flash MX and ColdFusion MX are completely integrated
to enable developers to easily create rich Internet applications that
combine the responsiveness and functionality of client/server applications
with the reach and low cost deployment of the Internet. The Macromedia MX
product family provides the best way to create and deploy rich Internet
applications across leading platforms and devices. For details of new
features in ColdFusion MX, visit www.macromedia.com/go/cfmxnew/.

"ColdFusion MX exceeded our expectations for compatibility, reliability, and
performance, in addition to delivering powerful new features," said Jason
Clark, chief technology officer, e-Zone Media, a Macromedia Alliance
partner. "Our application, initially written using ColdFusion 5, includes
over 42,000 lines of code and it ran on ColdFusion MX without any
modifications. We've had it running reliably in production on sites
delivering over a million hits per day with outstanding reliability and
performance that exceeds ColdFusion 5."

Wilmington Trust, a provider of financial services for corporate and
institutional clients around the world, has already deployed a ColdFusion MX
application created by InvestEdge, a Macromedia Alliance partner, which ties
into their legacy systems and provides their end users with real-time
portfolio management and reporting.

"The web services and XML capabilities of ColdFusion MX are extremely
powerful. Using other technologies, it would take me five weeks to integrate
my applications, but with the new web services and XML capabilities of
ColdFusion MX, I can do the same thing in one week," said Roland Collins,
chief technical officer, InvestEdge. "By implementing the InvestEdge
application built with ColdFusion MX, our financial services customers, like
Wilmington Trust, can now realize a return on investment in just a few
months."
