Hi, We have a few sites hosted in a CF5 shared hosting environment. On occasion it seems that mail that gets sent using CFMail just plain doesn't get sent. It would be nice to have a peek in the CF Mail logs and see the error which is likely an SMTP connection timeout. Alas but this low-budget service provider does not give us access to the CF mail logs and simply tells us to go away and say its likely a problem with our code.
To prove them wrong I wrote the world's smallest self-contained CF page that sends a little email. I'm calling it in a loop from another machine, passing a counter number that gets inserted into the subject line of the email and then watching the mail arrive to see if there are any holes in the counter sequence. Sure enough, there are regular holes. Does anybody out there know of a shared environment where one has access to CF logs? I ask this without thinking it through very much. I'm thinking along the lines of a service provider being able to run a little batch job every night that hands everybody their little pieces of the various logs ... It would be really nice to know that mail did not get sent! One can deal with stuff easily if yah know its failing. We have seven or eight sites hosted with this provider and are prepared to move them all if we don't get better service from them :-( ========================================================= | David Mayerlen | Mayerlen Consulting Inc // The Canadian Speculator | [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.specstock.com | 416-505-9470 / 905-833-8350 (Fax) ========================================================= - You are subscribed to the CFUGToronto CFTALK ListSRV.
