No it's not dead although I haven't had a chance to post my latest thoughts and work on the topic. I agree with Mark that Vim is my editor of choice--small, available almost everywhere I go, infinitely configurable. Check out vim.sf.net and lots of tips and scripts for customizing Vim. It takes about several months to get comfortable with hitting the ESC key all the time but when I go back to a Windows editor, the difference is astounding.
