So at YAPC there were some publishers to network with. I talked to one in particular about a CGI::App book idea, she was initially receptive. The formal process would be to follow up and get an official proposal form, submit that, and then work the publisher about possibly turning into a book.

This seems like a project that would fit well with the development of the Larger Thing. Just as a name is easier to apply to something concrete, I think a book would also be easier to write about the Larger Thing, then it would be about CGI::Application and 12 other modules.

I started on my own vision of the Larger Thing by exploring would it would take to bundle CGI::App and several plugins for easy distribution. PAR and Module::ScanDep's look like helpful tools to help generate such a package. My goal is a conventional "tar.gz" collection, not a PAR file.
But it seems PAR files are really just "zip" files without an extension,
so it takes me most of the way there.

Anyhow, I want to explicitly put forth an invitation for other people to work on these projects. I've recently be called to serve more in my local (physical!) community, so my own timing for this book project is less than ideal now.

Locally, I'll be helping to provide education and support around open source on the Desktop as well as working with city to make the place more bikeable and walkable.
