Sorry to reply to my own post, but I just noticed something relevant. I
am also using CAP::Forward, and it is possible that the above behaviour
has already been described in the CAP::ValidateRM documentation under
'CGI::Application::Plugin::Forward support', with an invitation to get
in touch to discuss a solution....
