It is common practice on Facebook to post, as one's default picture, a photograph of oneself when younger or an infant. The idea behind this is to invoke nostalgia, and is based on the assumption that many users make that the only people viewing their picture are those that are already know them, and are therefore aware that they are not as young as depicted. Many users, even those that have signed up for applications such as these, do not make the connection that their profile picture might be misconstrued as representative of their appearance.
