-1 on strict by default. We shouldn't be preventing users from
building just because they don't use the exact environment we do.
I don't want to prevent users from building with any compiler they want,
I just want the default "out of the box" build to succeed. Right now,
those of us who do builds often have build problems which we spend a lot
of time trying to track down. Adding more variables to the mix, i.e.
random compiler choices increases the chance of failure and make it
difficult to test bug fixes. So anything we can do to make the builds
work locally without extra knowledge or setup time seems like a good idea.
