If you decide to upgrade your Dapper install to Edgy like I did and you have Courier-* packages installed (they are installed by default) you may want to apt-get install the latest version *before* doing a dist-upgrade.

I just had to do major manual dpkg-fu because courier-authdaemon managed to get itself into an error state that was resisting all attempts to fix it.

Evidently Courier Auth has changed to a standard library for authentication and you need to pick one and have it installed before upgrading - or at least I think that's what the message was saying as it scrolled quickly off my terminal while my dist-upgrade was running :)
