Just an FYI, but this isn't really an error condition.  If we
receive an out-of-sequence email, we should simply ignore it.

I thought about just ignoring it, but then I thought perhaps the
caller might want to be aware of this situation, and possibly alert
the user(?).  Not sure.

I think it's clear the user doesn't need to know, as there is no choice to make and no action to take. And I really hate programs that tell you stuff like, "Hey, just so you know, somebody fromulated the thingamajig! No action is required.", and then I'm all like, "um, okay then." ;-)
