+1 on this. Note that other FLOSS apps do have similar "first launch"
perf issue due to the fact they build lots of stuff on first launch
rather than installing them (for all the reasons mentioned by Heikki:
smaller download, easier or no install required). One that come to my
mind is GIMP which took so much time the first time I launched it I
thought it was stalled: a good progress message would have prevented me
killing that first launch several times...
