So, would you suggest that we don't select the collection that the item belongs to, but still display it in the detail view? So in some cases the item ends up in the All collection but some other collection is selected in the sidebar?

Until just recently this wasn't even possible, so that's not how QuickEntry used to work.

Hi John,

When the selected collection is trash or it can't added to for some
other reason, it adds to the all collection

In all these situations if the all collection isn't selected but items
are added to it we select all and switch to the all collection so you
can see the item you added.

The main reason this happens for quick entry is when the selected filter
is, say, Task, but we created a new Event. In that case, the item's
added to the dashboard, not the currently selected collection. The
current code will now switch us to the dashboard, but it doesn't change
the filter, so the item still isn't visible in the table view.

I'm saying changing collections is a change of behavior for quick entry
which I don't think is desired. Yes, it's similar to what currently
happens when the New Item button is pressed in the trash or a read- only
collection, but the quick entry use case is different from New Item.

Sincerely,
Jeffrey
