With just a handful of bugs open on Desktop and Server, the end
finally seems near. As the trend continues, we are only allowing
restricted check-ins after bug council approval for blocker bugs.
This might find many of you with some available time to help with the
release. QA is one area where we could always use some extra help to
broaden test coverage:
The areas that QA could use help on:
1. Develop more automated tests:
As for in Desktop, we could use more unit tests for each of the
feature areas to help catch regressions after bug fixes. Also broaden
test coverage by adding tests that cover more than just the core
areas. As for Cosmo, we could use help in developing more Windmill
tests for the web UI. We have a list of existing Windmill testcases
under:
http://chandlerproject.org/Teams/CosmoDotSevenWindmillTestingCoverage
You can help write additional test scripts. Mikeal and Adam have
agreed to do an IRC session on helping others write Windmill tests.
An email will be sent out soon.
2. Help run through test cases from the test specifications :
There is a serious concern about regressions being introduced with
the recent bug fixes and we could benefit from more regression
testing of the application. For the Desktop, the various test
specifications are checked in here :
http://chandlerproject.org/Projects/ChandlerDesktopTestSpecifications
Specifically, we are could use help in executing the test cases from
the following spec:
http://chandlerproject.org/Projects/EditUpdateTestSpec
http://chandlerproject.org/Projects/DashboardTestSpec
http://chandlerproject.org/Projects/TriageTestSpec
These testcases were all executed as part of functional testing
phase. So we haven't run them off late. Please update the status
column with the revision number and whether it passed or not.
For the Server team, the test specifications are available under:
http://chandlerproject.org/Projects/ChandlerServerTestSpecifications
The ones we could use help on are:
http://chandlerproject.org/Projects/CosmoZeroDotSevenTestSpec
http://chandlerproject.org/Projects/CosmoSevenMigrationTestPlan
3. Validating Resolved bugs fixed by others:
This not only helps verifying whether a bug has been resolved but
also helps catch any regressions introduced along the way.
Feel free to ping any of us from the QA team if you have questions on
how to help. We have things for you if you have just a few mins,
couple of hours or days to help.
Thanks and lets get this release out!
Aparna
