Is this the toolbar?
Yes, this is the toolbar.
If so, I'm not sure what we can do, since it's the OS that draws
the text in the toolbar. Some OS's offer the ability to not display
the label at all, just the icons. Tooltips provide the user with
more information about each tool.
We do need to come up with some solution. Send / Update is a key
feature in Chandler and if the button is not displayed on the Screen
that is concerning.
On OS X the Toolbar displays ">>" and clicking on ">>" displays the
Send / Update button in a drop down. Most users will miss this and
get confused as
to why they can not send mail.
If we have very long toolbar button names and a set limit to the
width of the toolbar (right now it has to fit in 1024x768 I think),
then arbitrarily lengthening strings *will* cause tools to be
pushed off the end, with which some OS's deal better than others.
We should discuss further strategies to prevent the loss of the Send
button across platforms. I will do some research myself on UI OS
specific layout.
One option is to swap the Send and Search toolbar items. If the
search feature clips off the screen it is certainly not ideal but a
better alternative
to a disappearing Send button.
