Out of curiosity, how does getting rid of gcj fix the reported symptoms of
Bug 10803 (i.e. a broken full-text index with a missing file)?
The bug is likely a consequence of the random NullPointerExceptions that were
only seen on Windows. Because they were random and only seen on Windows, I
coded around them by just letting them happen. Up to now.
This was of course a hack and needed to be remedied by replacing PyLucene with
a less random system. The new PyLucene is very new, it could still be random,
but I'm very hopeful it is not.

This update fixes bug 10803 [1] by replacing PyLucene in chandler with the
new gcj-less PyLucene. On Windows and Linux, this requires openjdk which is
part of the new downloads. On Mac, the installed-by-default Apple Java is
used.
The repository format was changed too, exporting your existing data is
recommended.
