Hi,
We've been very busy this last week qualifying 0.7.2 and sorting bugs on
RC1. We should be ready to spin an RC2 sometime tomorrow as soon as we
can put to rest the last blocking bug (Bug 11202 : Debug build crashes
on first attempt to open repository created by end-user build for same
version).
So, clearly, we're going to miss the stated date for release (tomorrow).
The current ETA right now is Friday, time required to build and so some
QA qualification of the remaining fixed but not yet verified bugs.
Note that, contrarily to 0.7.1 which went very smoothly from branching
to release with no bug patched on the branch, this one has been bumpier
with several bugs blocking and patched on the branch:
Bug 10903 : We should include the .deb download link on the linux
download page
Bug 11048 : doesn't install on windows XP (actually doesn't launch) -
need to set PYTHONHOME
Bug 11176 : make install vs distrib and Chandler-en.po
Bug 11178 : If you try to quit while chandler is restoring shares it
will hang stopping twisted
Bug 11186 : File-Reload throws RepositoryOpenDeniedError and crashes app
Bug 11229 : Debug build of r15668 will not start - PyAssertionError
Bug 11232 : KeyError on deleting collections in the sidebar
Bug 11240 : l10n breakage in compact() UI
Not surprising for a release that has much more new code and features
than 0.7.1 but a cautionary tale for 0.7.3 with the several dev branches
ready to be merged (script_recording, multiweekview and leopard). If
you're working on those dev branches, please make sure QA has been
involved in testing some branch build *before* merging so that we don't
scramble fixing bugs on the trunk. Also remember that the landing day
for 0.7.3 (current trunk) is 11/14, i.e. *next Wednesday*.
Cheers,
- Philippe
