Just as an additional data point here, there is a proposal on the table
to drop support of wxWidgets on OSX 10.3 starting with 2.9 (we are in
the 2.8.x release cycle now.)
Oops, I forgot to add that things will likely still work on Panther for
some time, but may not be perfect as more things are shifter over to
10.4+ APIs. Also, 2.8.x will continue to support Panther as long as new
releases are being made on that branch.
