From the error above, I am going to assume that you are using the Python shipped with the Chandler release. This Python is a stripped down version and thus does not contain all the libraries needed for translation.

In order to generate a translation egg the SVN build of Chandler is required.

A link to SVN Chandler build instructions is included on the LocalizationProject wiki page:

http://chandlerproject.org/Projects/LocalizationProject

With the Chandler SVN version, the egg should build with no issues using the command:

2.) This for example: "Version %(versionNumber)s for %(platform)s" meens plural?

I am not sure I understand how this string would be plural in German. Can you explain further.

3.) I understand, that "&Quit" meens Keyboard shortcuts. In German you can read than "&Schliessen".
Then you have another shortcut for this. Nessesary or not?

When you say another shortcut I assume you mean "Ctrl+Q". There is a delineation in our current code base between the mnemonic accelerator "&Q" and the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl +Q" so it is necessary.

4.) In your OS list I miss SUSE. It is in Germany the preffered Linux OS

We do not currently have a SUSE release, but it is certainly something the team will keep in mind for
the future. Especially as we get more German users.

5.) While i'm married my OS today is W2ksp4, so I can't change to another (e.g. XP or newer)

Have you experienced an issue installing and running Chandler 0.7.3 on W2K?

6.) The question about pdf was the question for a printout for me

If you require a printable copy of the localization process, I suggest printing the Localization Project Wiki page.
