Fwding discussion from bugzilla to general list re: how we phrase

Option 1: Subscribe to Chandler Users List; or
Option 2: Ask for help...
I think this is more of an issue of how present the idea of asking
for help to users. For reasons previously stated, sending email from
Chandler is complicated because it requires the user to set up smtp
accounts.
My concern is that we scare people away from engaging with us because
they think they need to sign up for a mailing list. The barrier is
too high.
As for reply behavior, I think we should default on the users list to
replying directly to whomever the email is from. Otherwise, we should
remove the option to send to the list without subscribing to it. (But
I think that would be a bad idea.)
We should also make it really clear on the Chandler-Users mailing
lists page that you don't have to subscribe to Chandler-Users to send
us questions.

I don't think that is a good idea. When someone sends a message to
mailinglist,
the assumption is that they subscribe to the mailinglist.
Therefore, when
people respond to posts on mailinglist, they respond to the *list*,
not the
sender. It is considered bad form to respond to *both*. In fact,
some of our
lists are wired so that when you hit reply in your email client, it
will put
the list address as the recipient. It would be bad if users sent
questions and
never heard back.
Also, if it was really only about sending questions, then we could
send the
email/question from Chandler, without taking users to some cryptic
web page.
