Widgets seem to be in high demand, both for web and for the desktop (four out of the five projects on the Projects Idea list are widgets). If it does not already exist, I would like to create a framework that will allow easy access to the data store for widgets.
I thought it interesting that with release 4.0 KDE introduced a two-layer architecture for desktop widgets: the UI, corresponding to the actual widgets, and the data store, which provides the data to the widgets. It would be pretty neat if Chandler could carve out a niche for itself here, I don't think there is much available yet in this space. There could be a unified Chandler data store (either based on the desktop code or simply interfacing to the Hub), with all the widgets using it to query and modify the data they need.
