I believe detecting different ip addresses is what we are doing with
all the other dashboard metrics (ie: daily hits to the hub).

We can tell different IP addresses, which isn't quite the same thing
as users. And making the update check daily, rather than weekly,
wouldn't be a problem (makes testing somewhat easier, too ;).
