Hi Jared,

Not worrying about it works for me :)

Do we simply add a terms of service / privacy question to the faq? Is that something you could do based on what you've pulled together for the Hub service? or do we need to consult lawyer, etc?

Could we intercept the download experience from the website? Take the user to a page where they essentially "Agree" to terms of use for the application? Once they've done that, we proceed to the Product Tour.

From experience on other projects, my feeling is that it's a really bad idea to interrupt the download process with an EULA step. It sends away a large percentage of "lemme just try out this out" type of downloaders. The user experience "feels" wrong when this is done because it is so unusual.

I support letting users know about the software-update check, which can be used as a callback. But I think it's even better to not worry about it, and place the info perhaps into the faq. Software update services are pretty standard now and well-enough understood that people are happy to have it run, and have it on by default, as long as it's possible to shut it off.
