Hello Randall,

Several months ago, I suggested starting on the packaging effort for
Debian here on the Chandler Dev list. Unfortunately, the summer has
taken a weird turn for me, and I won't have the time to start on it for
at least another couple of months.

You're correct that there are some upstream projects (notably wxWidgets
and wxPython) that need some patches. The easiest thing to do is to get
those things incorporated in the upstream projects. I have no idea how
easy it will be to create a Debian/Ubuntu build with a
customized/patched version of a package that already exists in the
Debian repositories. Others in the development world here may know the
current state of those activities and their feasibility.

Beyond that, I haven't had much time to really dig into it. It
certainly looks like a big project.

For now, the general consensus among the Chandler, Debian and Ubuntu
folks is that it would be best to get Chandler Desktop built and
included in the Debian repository. Then Ubuntu would pick it up in
their normal process.

For your reference, the bug report that is tracking the beginnings of
the Debian effort is:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=449031

Thanks!
Matt
