I'm not sure if you know that you can get a month view of the calendar by clicking on the month name at the top of the calendar (and back to week view by clicking on the week number on the left of the month calendar) - it's one of the non-obvious tricks of the UI. However, it seems that this doesn't solve your problem because I don't seem able to drag and drop in the month view (logical since you can't go to a specific time in the month view).
Probably easiest to just type a new date into the date field; note that if you change the start date, the end date automatically changes, so it is quite quick to do.
