If you click and drag an item from the calendar to one of the other collections in the left hand column, it will be added to that collection and you will see at the bottom of the detail view in the right hand column that it now appears in both collections. If you now select the original collection and right-click on the item in the calendar, you can select "Remove" which will take it out of the original collection. You can also select the item and press the del key to remove it; this often causes confusion because del does not delete the item - it will still be in the dashboard. To completely remove an item, you need to right click and select Delete, or press ctrl-del.
