USC or GCs are highly encouraged to apply as our client is not ready to sponsor H1 visas at this time.* *JD:* * * This is a Senior Database Administrator position that is critical to the organization who is responsible for database engineering, as well as build, run, and help provide strategic technical direction for the department. This person will support and develop our *My SQL and SQL Server databases*as well as work with the infrastructure DBA to ensure the performance, availability, and security of the databases. Having BI/ Data warehousing experience on Microsoft tools is a huge asset as well. SQL Server reporting services, SQL Server Analysis Services, Performance Point Server and ProClarity etc…This role requires a proven track record of successfully delivering and maintaining Database Management, MSSQL Server, MySQL Server, SQL Programming, Database Security, Requirements Analysis, Problem Solving, Promoting Process Improvement, Data Maintenance, Database Performance Tuning, Process Improvement, Large System Implementation, Database replication, Good understanding of Windows OS and Linux OS administration. * * *Responsibilities (MySQL and MS SQL Server)**:* - Responsible for database scripting, setting the configuration of both MySQL and SQL Server - Having working experience with both MySQL and MS SQL Server databases install - Provide support associated with development activities - Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving of SQL development - Assist infrastructure DBA with routine performance and availability testing on database servers to ensure scalability, resiliency, and capacity of all applications - Provides expert level database administration support to 3rd party vendors, developers and others as needed - Performs other related duties as assigned - Maintains and supports the University's business critical database servers - Optimizes SQL performance, partitioning, indexing, stored procedures and DTS packages - Ensures that database systems are operating at acceptable performance and availability levels - Establishes monitoring thresholds for database systems - Provides 24/7 support and troubleshooting for business critical database servers - Works evenings and weekends, as required, providing support and maintenance for systems - Establishes physical database parameters, including, file system layout and performance requirements - Manages patch deployment and migration for SQL Server, including, testing procedures and release/change management processes - Works closely with System Administrators & Application Development teams to support the architecture/operational practices - Assists in developing and testing disaster recovery procedures and plans for Microsoft SQL applications - Interfaces with application providers to assist in optimizing third party applications - Manages capacity planning activity for database systems including storage usage - Provides and manages data replication services as needed - Provides support for applications with database troubleshooting - Adhering to University established policies and procedures - Executing database backup and recovery operations, database patching and upgrades, and implementation of database security policies - Maintaining and enhancing database maintenance routines - Partnering with project technical leads and development teams to execute technical solutions in line with customer expectations and company strategic goals - Ensuring compliance with, maintaining, and enhancing standard practices and processes - Integrating SQL systems with third-party tools and environments - Completes platform upgrades and migrations; monitoring performance; coordinating actions * * * * *Education and Experience**:* - In depth SQL Server Database Administration experience including clustering - Experience managing multiple MS SQL 2000/2005/2008 RDBMS on large systems & also MySQL.
