Applies changes, subject to some review, to current information technology infrastructure following established processes. • May also contribute to the development of new processes. • Applies information analysis to resolve low to medium complexity infrastructure problems and low to moderate in risk. • Delivers infrastructure technology for multi-functional business requirements with limited interrelationship to the overall business process. • Has some interaction with functional business partners on tactical issues and limited contact with suppliers. • Completes routine changes and improvements to existing processes, with some review. • This may include modifying existing operating systems, designs, or program code. Has responsibility for communicating and recording change documentation. • May create change processes for new situations or business requirements. Duties: Monitors and applies changes to current information technology infrastructure, under minimal supervision, following a process or developing new processes. • Applies information analysis to resolve low to moderately complex infrastructure problems. • Delivers infrastructure technology for multi-functional business requirements with limited interrelationship to the overall business process. • Identifies and applies appropriate new information technology infrastructure components within a diverse environment as required to support strategic business plans and processes. • Participates in various roles as a team member, at times includes facilitating team meetings. • Occasionally participates on multiple teams. • Assumes proportionate share of responsibility for an effective team and understands good teaming concepts. • Participates on projects as a team member or leads small well defined projects with a small team, taking on project tasks, giving work direction and may assist in deciding how work will be done. Establishes, reports and monitors project measurement parameters. • Supports projects that require contact with other Information Technology departments at the unit, division, or enterprise level. • There is some interaction with functional business partners on tactical issues and limited contact with suppliers. • Completes routine changes and improvements to existing processes, with some supervision. This may include modifying existing operating systems, designs, or program code. • Responsible for communicating and recording change documentation. • May create change processes for new situations or business requirements. Assists or makes technical or project based decisions pertaining to elements of the infrastructure. *Position Requirements:* • Administration of the Solaris 10 Operating System on the SPARC Platform. • Administration of Solaris 10 Zones/Containers. • Administration of Solaris Cluster 3.x • Administration of Solaris Cluster 3.x Zone Clusters • Solaris OS performance troubleshooting and support • RedHat Linux and AIX Support • Solaris 10: ZFS, UFS, Solaris Volume Manager/Disk Suite, Zones/Containers, Solaris Resource Manager, system utilities for performance monitoring, IPMP • SPARC hardware – T Series, ILOM, Open Boot Parm (OBP) • Scripting Using Common Unix Languages - perl, ksh, bash, awk, sed • Ability to troubleshoot in a complex distributed environment containing over 1000 servers and over 1000 users, running more than one base operating system. • Knowledge and experience with Unix Services/Utilities (NFS, SSH, LDAP, rsync, sendmail) • Knowledge and experience with Networking (TCP/IP, Ethernet, DHCP, DNS, LACP) • A global team required to cross administer, implement, support, and troubleshoot complex problems in the following environments: Solaris, Linux, and AIX. • Implementing on-going infrastructure maintenance and improvements, including off-hours activities following John Deere change management procedures • Participate in a 8 hour, 5 day per week and a 12 hour, 2 day per weekend, on-call support rotation. • Participate in and/or manage small to medium sized projects. • Ability to participate and contribute to a strong, supportive team environment. • Solid analytical skills and the desire to gain further experience in multiple technologies. • Enthusiastic and self-starter. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills Solaris required, clustering in Solaris required, Red Hat Linux and AIX is preferred. 4 year degree is desired but not required.
