*Overview *As a Database Administrator, you are enabled to layout Client’s
database architecture and design. In this role, DBAs are empowered to help
the business understand the vision product managers have laid out to help
customers make better decisions in the oil and gas industry.

*Responsibilities:*

*Ensure business continuity*

·         Analyze existing architecture, identify design pain points and
develop a strategy to address and prevent future architectural design
issues;

·         In collaboration with IT and infrastructure personal, develop and
implement a sound and flexible database backup and recovery strategy;

·         Take a proactive approach to identifying and effectively
addressing production issues as they arise; and taking measures to reduce
production support; and

·         Develop processes to convert minimal requirements to solid
database solutions/models and implementations.


*Troubleshooting and process orientation*

·         Troubleshoot very complex technical issues and provide reasonable
solutions in a timely fashion;

·         Serve as the point of contact for 1 or more projects and deliver
project execution plans with minimal oversight. Drive projects from
inception to existence successfully;

·         Able to work with stakeholders to identify best practice
processes and institutionalize the adoption of processes across a diverse
organization; and

·         Understand the SDLC process and able to work with developers to
create and instill best practices across the organization.


*Detail, coordinate and plan*

·         Coordinate with IT, SAN admins and others on the planning and
tasks involved in the success of projects and maintenance windows;

·         Mentor, coach and train developers and analysts on best practices
regarding database technology; and

·         Take a thorough and detail oriented approach to solving all
business and technical problems.


*Qualifications*

Required Skills and Experience

·         Minimum of 8 years’ experience designing, tuning and
administering Oracle & SQL Server database systems (emphasis on SQL Server);

·         Experience with performance monitoring and optimization
technologies such as Red Gate;

·         Strong SQL Server database design, SQL optimization/Explain
Plans, and tuning skills (Index/table and SQL code);

·         Excellent planning, problem solving and troubleshooting skills;

·         Experience coordinating capacity planning;

·         Knowledge of and ability to install, configure and tune SQL
Server Clusters;

·         A strong understanding of Windows Server Operating Systems at a
systems administration level;

·         Experience with Linux / Unix system administration is a plus

·         Experience with batch scripting, T-SQL, SQL programming;

·         Experience with business continuance and backup/recovery products;

·         Ability to collect, analyze and summarize requirements from
multiple constituents and design a database/storage infrastructure solution
(network and storage arrays) that allows for future capacity growth and
performance scalability;

·         Requires a resource who can work with the business owners and
technical owners of a project/application in a team environment;

·         Knowledge of Data Warehouse and Data Integration technology is
highly desirable;

·         Experience migrating and consolidating disparate large scale
environments is highly desirable;

·         Knowledge and experience with MySQL and/or Postgresql is a plus;
and

·         Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other
technical discipline.
