Position: IT Engineer Duration: 6+ months, likely extension Location: Detroit, MI Visa: No H1B MOI: Phone and Skype I would be looking for them to have Satellite Server experience. Engagement Description - Working on multiple projects as the System Administrator and Engineer for the Linux systems which may be built in vmWare or standalone servers. - Consulting with application SMEs on the design and configuration of the servers. - Responsible for coordinating installation of new server hardware, deploying Operating System images, and configuring the servers for application installations. - Working with application SMEs on installation and configuration issues. - Ensuring newly built servers are built to standards and fully integrated into BCBSM monitoring, backup, disaster recovery, ID provisioning, and other systems. - Supporting server builds and applications from initial build through production deployment. - Off hours work may be necessary. Top 4 Required Skills/Experience - 3 years experience working with virtualization technologies such as: VMware, Solaris Zones, AIX LPARs. - 3 years experience with VMware enterprise features (DRS, HA, vMotion, Storage vMotion, deploying from templates). - 3 years experience using Satellite Server 5 or 6. - 5 years experience working with blade and rack mount server hardware. Required Skills/Experience - Strong experience with init.d, bash, regex, scripting, cron, LVM, filesystems, NFS, SAN storage, backups, monitoring, syslog, ntp, DNS, patching, and systemd. - Demonstrated experience planning and executing client / server architectural implementations. - Demonstrated experience providing client / server infrastructure guidance and thought leadership. - Proficient in performance monitoring, capacity planning, virtualization analysis, and consolidation activities. - Experience with scripting and automating manual and tedious tasks using tools such as bash, perl, and PowerShell. - Strong work ethic. - Ability to thrive in a constantly changing environment - Demonstrated experience in the creation and management of technical documentation. - Collaborative in approach to working with a team. - Highly creative in approach to problem solving. - Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly. - Ability to work independently with little supervision. - Ability to work outside of normal business hours to support project deliverables. Preferred Skills/Experience - Experience with Puppet and other Automation Technologies. - Experience with freeIPA or Red Hat Identity Management. - Industry certifications in areas such as RHEL, SUSE, Solaris, or AIX. Proof of certifications must be provided. - Experience with Solaris 10 and zones. - Experience with AIX 5, 6, 7, and PowerVM. Education/Certifications - Include: - Bachelor degree preferred in a related field such as Information Technology. - Certifications preferred in one or more of the following: RHEL, SUSE, Solaris, or AIX.
