Our group has two Programmer Graduate RA positions open for autumn quarter, and potentially longer.
Position Description: The primary purpose of this position is to contribute technical expertise to research projects in the University of Washington Schools of Nursing, Medicine, Global Health and Public Health for the Clinical Informatics Research Group. The individual in this position will use software development and relational database skills to assist in the implementation of health applications. The RA will participate in all phases of software development including requirements definition, coding, and testing. The RA will be responsible for evaluation, selection and application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria in developing and/or modifying complex designs of systems. Required Qualifications: Software developer experience and broad knowledge of Web/Internet standards, hardware and software technologies, preferably in Java and PHP. Experience with relational database technologies, such as Postgres, MySQL, Oracle, or SQL Server. Experience in application design and development. Experience in web development using PHP, Java, Perl, or equivalent. Experience using version control repository software, such as Subversion (SVN), CVS, VSS Demonstrated ability to resolve technical problems in an independent manner. Proven ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalent Familiarity with healthcare delivery or clinical information systems.
