What Women Want: An Evidence-Based Approach to Innovative Maternal Health Care in Africa
Our project, "What Women Want: An Evidence-Based Approach to Innovative Maternal Health Care in Africa" is seeking a project associate to manage data collection for an evaluation that is ready to launch. The project is designed as a first step in evaluating the health impacts of a start-up social enterprise, Jacaranda Health, which aims to deliver affordable, high quality reproductive, maternal, neonatal and child health care to poor urban women in Nairobi, Kenya . It combines business, social and clinical innovations to create a self-sustaining and scalable chain of clinics. PIs include Jessica Cohen, Margaret McConnell and Priya Agrawal (Harvard School of Public Health). The project is being administered by HSPH and our partner Jacaranda Health. The project associate would live and work in Nairobi, working closely with the partners to conduct a pre-post survey of pregnant women and an audit of delivery facilities. In addition to managing project operations, the project associate would also coordinate the development of new research agendas surrounding mobile financial services with the partner organization. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who seeks to acquire experience with managing field projects and is interested in quality of care and health service provision. The ideal candidate will be a graduate student with knowledge of Stata, previous experience with collecting or analyzing survey data as well as experience with large scale logistics operations in a developing world context. We are looking for someone who could start immediately, as of September 2011 and could work until December 2011 and possibly beyond. Responsibilities would include: ? Hiring and managing a team of surveyors ? Helping to develop an audit of health facilities ? Hiring and managing a team of auditors ? Organizing sampling and surveying in the slums of Nairobi ? Supporting the administration of the survey via cell phones. ? Managing incoming data ?
