Call for FAILs

FAILFaire at ICTD2012
Monday, March 12, 2012,?ICTD2012, Atlanta, Georgia, USA
http://www.ictdchick.com/failfaireictd2012/

Calling for case studies by researchers/implementers/practitioners for
FAILFaire at ICTD2012!

Failure.? What does it mean for ICTD research to fail? How can we
learn from ?failed? research projects? At the FAILFaire at ICTD2012 we
invite people to an open and interactive discussion about the nature
of failure in ICTD research, using presentations about specific cases
as a starting point for dialogue.

The FAILFaire is open to all ICTD2012 and ACM DEV 2012 participants,
however due to space considerations, you MUST RSVP in advance.
http://failfaireict4d.eventbrite.com

We are interested in hearing about a broad-range of ICTD and M4D
initiatives ? anything from health, education or emergency response
projects, to community development initiatives, mapping projects, data
collection endeavors, public awareness or education campaigns. If you
have a project to propose, please submit a brief overview here
(http://bit.ly/Am0oVP?) of your project by Feb 17, 2012.

Failures might include (but are not limited to):
* low participation
* needs of the community unmet or miscommunicated
* inappropriate technology,
* ineffective communication/education
* inability to scale/replicate
* did not engage the intended audience.

We especially invite your ?unpublishable? failures, projects
previously presented at ICTD that have since FAILed, issues with the
ICTD research community that may have led to a failure to learn from
failure, and your real
lessons learned in deployment.

Presentations should address:

What was the project?
What were you trying to do?
Where did it go wrong? What was the FAIL?
What would you do differently next time?
What can we as the ICTD community learn?

Presenters must be affiliated with the project. No third party FAILs!
