All—
ACM SIGCHI has initiated a series of forums for different sub-interests called
“communities.” These include large, well-established groups with conferences
(UIST, CSCW, UbiComp) as well as smaller interest groups with specific aims
(e.g., Research-Practice Interaction).

This looked like a nice opportunity for a number of us, so we created an HCI4D
community for people interested in the nexus of HCI and development:
http://www.sigchi.org/communities/hci4d

Note that this community is open to anyone interested in HCI and development
(whatever that means to you). If you’re not an ACM member, you can still
affiliate with the community—the only thing you can’t do is vote or hold office.

Please join us!

This is brand new, so we’re still working out what the community will be—come
help us figure that out. For now I’m the acting chair, but we’ll be setting up
governance, elections, etc. before long. And… spread the word!
