IBM has actively worked on this STEM model for several (>5?) years, and has 
presented the integration of this work with a health information exchange model 
at the HIMSS IHE Showcase several times.

Job description
We currently have an internship opportunity available in the public health 
research department. In this department we develop new models and tools for 
public health including the open source Eclipse Spatiotemporal Epidemiological 
Modeling project.  Our projects include creation of new mathematical models of 
food born disease, as well as zoonotic and vector borne disease. We are 
currently developing new algorithms to pro-actively model population risk of 
food borne diseases. Some of our recent work included publications on H1N1, 
Malaria, and Dengue Fever.

Students are employees hired for a pre-professional/professional assignment 
while enrolled at a university/educational institution or just after completion 
of qualification and work for IBM as a required part of their academic program 
or work during vacation, breaks, and/or holiday periods or as a placement year, 
for example, co-ops and interns.
Required
Bachelor's Degree
At least 2 years experience in Java
At least 1 year experience in Mathematics including calculus
English: Intermediate
Preferred
Master's Degree in Physics
At least 3 years experience in Java
At least 2 years experience in Mathematics including calculus
English : Fluent
