I'm actually not working insane hours this week, so I'm thinking of
doing wireless stuff in the evenings. Who's with me?

Reply to the list if you'd like to get together Wednesday after work.
Now that Broadway is pretty much done, we can start plotting further
domination (we still need to put Mario's AP and the Cantina's AP in
place, though.) Oh and we just got a nice donation, probably enough to
double the existing coverage of the cloud, so we can start planning
where we'd like to expand if that's what we want to do.

I'd like to do an end-of-year wrap-up at some point. Maybe re-work the
website a bit to reflect recent progress, thank our donors, etc. It's
also time to re-start the PR machine, schedule some events where we can
tell the public what we've learned, what we can do in the future, stuff
like that.

Probably most of all, we need to document what we've done for the
web-site so that others can easily configure their own APs and even
link them together like we've done. For example some step-by-step
examples of flashing OpenWRT and configuring them for WDS... what we've
found when testing it, how it's different from the Sveasoft firmware,
range limitations, detailed data on how the after-market antennas
improve the signal, how to recover bricked WRTs, etc.

We should keep in mind that our goal has not been to cover Columbus in
wireless ourselves, but to set an example of how easy/cheap it is, and
show others how to do it. It's about community, not control :) (Well,
we *are* building robotic exoskeletons with laser-cannons which we'll
use to dominate the city, but that's kind of a different project,
really.)

Other stuff we've talked about doing:

* Set up a monitor with etherape (or some other graphical traffic
display) downstairs in JBB/Flipside for people to check out. Eye-candy
stuff is neat.

* We've got a bunch of t-shirts left, we should fold them and sort them
and see if we can get Alek and/or Kevin to help us hawk them. We're
not making a ton of money from them (basically cost + a little extra)
but it's a nice publicity thing.

* Need to move The Loft's AP out of Buddy's office and re-flash it,
set it up for WDS like the others. That one's been kinda forgotten
lately.

* I've got a handful of local websites hosted at the LOLpht now. We
can set that up so it's easier for CFners to set up their own sites...
make a nice front-end for DNS... stuff like that. I like that we're
able to host local groups' sites locally. Also, we've got a T1 or two
coming sometime early next year, so we can really start doing the music
streaming thing if we'd like.

* (Insert stuff I missed here!)

Don't forget to reply to the list if you'd like to help out, and if you
can make it Wednesday night. Also post any ideas you have about where
we can go with things in the next couple of months. As much as I like
to hear myself talk, it's time for more of you folks to make yourselves
heard :)

Cheers!
Eater
