How many directionals do you need? I know of a design that isn't dirt cheap but gets much more gain than any ribbed beef stew can. The cookie can is a little over 5 bucks by itself. I looked in dollar stores but couldn't find any of this diameter so I had to go with the Pepperidge Farm brand. They do much better than any other waveguide without the funnel. If you can manage to find the funnel or a replacement you'll probably end up with a really high gain antenna. Altogether I think it cost me about 8 bucks.
