July 15th - Party at Rhinos
Initially planned by Eric ( [EMAIL PROTECTED]) as a fundraiser, ColumbusFreeNet.org is taking over Rhinos on the 15th of July. It's a Saturday. There will be several bands & local DJs donating their entertaining presence. For Rhinos' support, I'd like to start off this party with an active link into the network and increased local media attention. There's a lot that needs to come together for this to happen.
A parts order consisting of several PC Engines WRAP boards has been placed and are in the process of being shipped/received. They should be assembled and in software testing by Friday, July 7th.
Another goal is the launch of a shoutcast/icecast system with content sponsored by Flipside Records, ColumbusThing.com and other businesses.
For those that have forgotten, Knology has donated bandwidth. That link is currently idle due to its location. We need to get it running. For the legal people, we need a Site Use Agreement before we can get roof access to mount equipment. I found a sample Site Use Agreement at https://d2d.ali-aba.org/_files/thumbs/rtf/Jacobson_PREL0009_thumb.pdf if someone would review it.
On another note, HEAT (temperature) is a huge problem in the NOC. Tom had measured temps on the floor in excess of 120F. Soo, there are multiple projects to help combat this.
