Two years ago in the genesis of what became Columbus Freenet, I was
the old deaf fat man who regularly attended, but couldn't hear what
was said, and who did not contribute much (except for a commercially
made "cantenna"), and who dropped by the wayside. But, I was much
impressed by many of you.

I am a Critical Care Physician employed by St. Francis Hospital
(SFH). I know just enough about LAMP to have developed a program
which dictates to the ICU nursing staff the rate of insulin
administration of an intravenous drip for critically ill patients who
have poor blood sugar (glucose) control. It is called the Critical
Care Computerized Insulin Infusion Protocol (CCCIIP). It currently
runs on Linux box setting in my office, having an assigned local IP
address. Every patient bed at SFH is supported by a computer, thereby
lending itself to use of a web based application via the SFH intranet.

CCCIIP is user friendly, accepted by the nursing staff, and very
simple in presentation. More importantly, it works!

And, it's time to put it on the net!

There are ever increasing medical quality guidelines and regulatory
controls forcing strict control of glucose amongst hospitalized
diabetics, especially in the critical (intensive) care areas. A
business opportunity exists!

Though I can pound out some PHP code to do some very interesting
things with Mysql, I have need for help to place this application on
the net with 1) proper server security, 2) proper user
authentication, authorization and access control for Health Insurance
Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance, and 3)
protection for patient information transmittal, i.e., SSL, and 4)
ongoing server(s) maintenance.

In the long term it needs to also be "pretty", which it is now NOT;
more sophisticated and efficient code may be appropriate.

I insist on Linux or FreeBSD, Apache, Mysql and PHP.

The business entity to proceed with and market this application is
yet to be established, and will be between myself and the Saint
Francis Hospital Foundation. I am NOT an authorized agent to speak
for SFH, or, at this time, for whatever business entity might be formed.

But we need to start somewhere. I would greatly prefer learning about
and utilization of (working with) qualified local expertise.

If you have interest in this sort of project and the skills to help,
please respond. I would prefer receiving e-mail at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
