Ubuntu is good too if you would rather have a debian based install.
The machine I'm on right now is running Fedora but I run Ubuntu on my
laptop and love it. Previously the laptop was running Debian. I was
a little skeptical at first but a lot of things seem to work better
with Ubuntu.

Ubuntu has a free media program as well.
