Hi Ben,
I went through the resources to find out a general graphics library to wrap
and found Cairo as the much better option. Reasons are
1) It's performance
2) Usability
3) Quality of output
4) Availability of binding s to several other languages
5) (Most valuable thing is) Free software :D
IMO wrapping a general graphic library is the best fit for the Chapel
rather than just building a plotting extension using a plotting toolkit. It
is very easy to implement than using a general library but in the point of
Chapel's objectives I hope using Cairo is the best way to do it.
Shall we discuss on the IRC. At what time of the day you are available on
the IRC? Would like to meet you there and get a decision.
