Hello Chapel team,
I am from the Charm++ team and we would like to learn more about Chapel's
GasNet port as we are also considering implementing a GasNet communication
interface for Charm++. I have read your Reddit discussion
<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.reddit.com_r_ProgrammingLanguages_comments_3oqa1v_ama-5Fwere-5Fthe-5Fdevelopment-5Fteam-5Ffor-5Fthe-5Fchapel_&d=DQMFaQ&c=8hUWFZcy2Z-Za5rBPlktOQ&r=4CBu3yLpEO6R8cJW9oaBXMQTt-HOkLTwTHYk7k8M0go&m=f4ztJ0F3Dem1GKiLwSStRvCF7cF_6M1sprINW_hz_w0&s=unL3mq3qWche1MtTHhd9xgz3fygO0r2a6DLVWkICczg&e=>
where
David writes native ugni performs better than GasNet on Cray systems. Can
you share with us how much performance difference there is? What are the
reasons for this performance difference?
For Charm++, we have implementations of native interfaces for ugni, verbs,
pami, and some others to achieve the best performance. GasNet's portability
is very appealing, however we do not want to sacrifice from performance.
Your insights would be valuable for us.
Thanks,
