This is a violation Sections 3202.3.1 and 3202.5.1 of the Baltimore City Building Code prohibit the placing of A-Frame signs in the public right of way. A citation will be issued and the sign removed. The violator in addition to the fine can also be charged the cost of removal and any expenses related to repairing the damage caused by the removal.
If there are questions regarding this the person to contact is Martha Grande in Right - of - Ways, her number is 410 396-3346.
Let me know if I can be of any additional assistance.

Dale,
Would you kindly let me know the law on "sandwich" signs so I can let these community members know what, if anything they can do to put a stop to them in Charles Village? BTW, the Charles Village Benefits district sets a sandwich sign outside its office at 2301 N. Charles Street to advertise community events. Is this allowed?
Sincerely,
W. Brad Schlegel

Tuesday.Arjay: I believe the signs are illegal though I couldn't quote the law to you. I completely agree with you especially in the case of Ruby
lookThose backlit red letters have NO place on Charles Street. Dawna

Arjay, I too have noticed these signs. (See messages below.) They
horrible, imho.
I don't think signs are allowed on the median strip; that land belongs
to the city, I think.
Does anyone know how or if either sign can be removed?
Christine

Dawna,
I don't have any interesting chat, ...but your email reminded me of something I have been meaning to ask you about.
I am very unhappy with the two sandwich board signs that Ruby Tuesday puts out every day, ...one out on the sidewalk in front of their store
servicenear the service drive and the second one actually in the grassy median between the
...followdrive and Charles Street. I believe it says "TO GO" with an arrow indicating, ...hey passersby, ...here's where you can get some carry out,
the arrow.
Blimpie's also puts one out on the sidewalk at Charles and 31st. I think they look like hell and Charles Street has a much too classy character for these signs to be tolerated! All we need is for Charles Street after the reconstruction to look trashy with too much commercial advertising!
Do the signs bother you and your neighbors?
I'm trying to build some steam up with CVCA regarding looking into sign ordinances and this issue and wanted to get a feel for whether I'm the only one who has noticed or are there others?
