Legend has it that klezmer music, the traditional music of eastern European
Jews, can contain all the world's happiness and all the world's sadness in the
same song. In the hands of Baltimore's Charm City Klezmer, featuring Max and
Judith Geller and Michael Raitzyk, klezmer can also contain all the world's
jazz, funk, blues, and whatever else gets the dance floor moving. You'll like
the latkes and Hanukah decorations, but you'll love the booty-movin? clarinet
solos. Also Israeli dancing with instruction. Come and celebrate--a don't
miss event!
Charm City Klezmer, the long-standing Charles Village-based band, is known
throughout the region for its innovative take on traditional music and its
raucous live shows. Past performances include the Kennedy Center, Columbia
Festival of the Arts, and media appearances on Maryland Public Television and the
Mark Steiner Show.
Admission to the event is $10, $8 for members of the Creative Alliance. Tickets available in advance or at the door.
