This evening, my wife, my sister-in-law and I tried Freshii Restaurant, located on St. Paul just south of Eddie's, where the florist used to be, above the laundromat. Unfortunately, their air conditioner is not working and they have only a portable air conditioner, but they promise to have their central air conditioning working soon.

I had spicy lemon grass soup. The portion is huge and does feature good chicken, rice noodles, various very fresh vegetables and a tasty broth. One can easily make a whole meal out of such a soup. My impression is that a number of the dishes offered are Thai, and since I am a fan of Thai food (and of most ethnic foods), that's great.

My wife and my sister-in-law each had yogurt with a few toppings. That is also great eating.

Their menu features fresh vegetables, and you can design your own wraps and salads or, as I did, you can pick something complete from the menu. Vegan meals featuring tofu are available. Prices are reasonable. They serve breakfast, which I have not yet tried.

So I think that Freshii will be a great addition to Charles Village dining.

Below, I have copied the announcement from City Council Member Mary Pat Clarke's Weekend Happenings email of the grand opening Tuesday at 10:45.
