Mayor Rawlings-Blake Designates September 17, 2011 as Frank Zappa Day
09/16/2011 04:37 PM EDT

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake issued a proclamation declaring tomorrow,
September 17, 2011, as the 5th Annual Frank Zappa Day in Baltimore. Born in
Baltimore on December 21, 1940, Frank Zappa went on to become a world-renowned
composer, musician, and author before his untimely passing due to prostate
cancer in 1993. Frank Zappa Day will be celebrated with a free festival from
10:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. in Baltimore’s Highlandtown neighborhood at the
intersection of Eastern Avenue and South Conkling Street. The festival will
feature appearances by members of the Zappa family, a ceremonial lighting of
the Zappa bust, presentation of the Free Mind Award, great programming at the
Enoch Pratt Free Library and the Creative Alliance, a unique street festival,
and much more....
