That is a good point.

An hour of cpu time probably costs somewhere between 6 cents and $5

The usa federal minimum wage is currently $7.75.

So that's anywhere from 1.5 to 129 times more efficient to burn an
hour of cpu time than an hour at minimum wage. (Some of us also place
higher value on our time, than minimum wage.)

Of course, it can be argued that these costs add up, over time (which
brings to mind http://xkcd.com/1205/).

That said, for me the real value of J is that it lets me quickly
tackle new topics. When I want someone else's existing code, I'll live
with whatever they give me. But when I am exploring issues for myself,
that's different.
