The PATHSEP approach should work perfectly. I (re)discovered that 0!:1 could not accept a blank in a directory name. So that was the problem after I removed the escape character '/' from the directory name. So I am just limiting directory names to be blankless.
I have made a simple check of the odd number of docs and it seems to work fine. An empty directory also does not behave badly. Nice fix Dan and Raul. I just noticed the variety of left hand arguments in your examples. I had not thought of a boxed list left argument working. Nice. What hashtag or thingy do you use on twitter?
