As suspected, the Beep function parameters allows one to control the
frequency and duration of the beep sound played through the speakers. Beep
produces a basic sine wave tone on my Windows 8.1 laptop in Jqt64-8.03, but
there doesn't appear to be any way to modify the waveform type. This is
good for making beeps, but not so good for creating and playing arbitrary
waveforms. Thanks Raul, for the Beep documentation links.

The wav.ijs script Raul posted on Pastebin looks closer to what I need. So
far, I have been able to create a wav file of the opening bars of
Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" using the example code in the wav.ijs file in
Jqt64-8.03 on my Win 8.1 machine. I was able to play the joy.wav file on
several different wav players on my machine, which tells me that the wav
file RIFF headers and data format were built correctly, not a trivial
achievement. Kudos to Oleg Kobchenko, who wrote the wav.ijs script. I
think Oleg's wav.ijs addon should be a permanent part of the addon library. I
haven't seen Oleg on this forum for several years.

In any case, now I need to build some waveform-generating scripts, to
create various types of sounds.
