I think some members of this group will enjoy this talk. What I found fascinating was that Rob Pike, Ken Thompson, and Robert Griesemer had implemented APL sometime in the past. What is even more fascinating is that J has further improved upon ideas (integrated rank support, much more sophisticated handling of all sorts of numbers, and some unique functions/ideas like under, power....i'm sure I'm missing some more things!!) of APL and yet there's no mention of it anywhere. It's as if Ken Iverson never improved upon APL too! I've derived, and continue to derive, much pleasure using and learning J and its implementation. And I love the J community!
