Bjorn's question is more to the point than mine, so I have moved to chat.

Once a year about 400 people attend a week's event. The current database is
Excel. More to my point, the current payment system is checks and cash, no
credit, so there is little reason to move to an alternative db, imo. (I am
not the person running the event, but she indicated she would like to make
the db more automatic.)

Is there any very economical system that could be applied with jd that
could accept credit card payments, also?

TIA,
