Ok.

I just don't remember any concept of readability that would support
the idea that a programming language's readability could drift over
time without significant changes in the language itself.

More generally, the treatments I've read about were more focused on
readability of documents than of languages. Though, I suppose some of
those concepts were implicitly audience dependent, which might open
the door to changing readability.
